Which was something that taxpayers saw as obscene
As the Pope was hidden behind a bullet-proof screen
And moved out to where protesters and Catholics had begun to convene
On the London streets with signs and crucifix waving
Catholics singing and protesters ranting and raving
Because of a scandal for which they hadn't yet forgave him,
Which they thought was so depraved that even God would not save him.
But some were just angry when it was let slip
That taxpayers would have to pay for his trip
Something that gave people the gip
Tensions were rising and someone was bound to flip.
Seventy-four per cent were apparently irate,
About a subject that BBC's Question Time put to debate,
Whether he was the head of a church or head of a state.
And this was something that politicians tried to abate,
Which wasn't helped much by what the Pope did dictate.
